*****CLASS NEWS*****
I have been happily married to my beautiful wife
Christie now since 1993. We have three gorgeous children who keep us busy! We
built our dream home down here in NC in 2005. Nice to live out in the country! I
am sorry I missed the reunion; I hope everybody is doing well!
Eric Richardson
I attended VA Tech for 1 year beginning in the Fall of
1987. I then held a couple of jobs in Chesapeake and joined the Army in Jan.
1989. I spent the next 4 years as a Paratrooper at Ft. Bragg, NC with the 27th
Engineer Battalion and was deployed as part of Operation Desert Shield and
Operation Desert Storm. I left the service in Aug. 1992 and moved back to
Chesapeake and worked at Kramer Goodyear and Cavalier Ford as a mechanic. After
11 months of going from job to job, I re-enlisted in the Army in July 1993. I
spent the next 6 years between Germany and Ft. Hood, Tx. as an Infantryman.
While in Germany, I was deployed to Macedonia and Bosnia. I was also a member
of the European Rodeo Cowboy Association as a Bareback Rider. I also met my
wife in Germany. We were married between deployments on December 18, 1995. We
have one son who is 11 years old. In October 1996 we were stationed at Ft.
Hood, Tx. where I served until I was medically discharged in Jan. 1999. We
currently reside in Flagstaff, Az. and are both employed with the Coconino
County Sheriff's Office as Detention Officers. Someplace in the middle of all
of this I have also been afforded the opportunity to spend time working an a
cattle ranch mending fence and herding an branding cattle. Whew!!! Hopefully
there will be many more adventure to come.

Hello classmates! After
almost eight years in the Air Force and earning a B.A. in Social Work from Texas
Tech and a M.S. in Social Work from the University of Texas, I returned to the
east coast in 2001 (having previously lived in Texas, California, and Spain). I
now live in the DC area (Rockville, MD) and work for the Food and Drug
Administration doing management analysis, research and community outreach. I
also met my husband Brent, a molecular geneticist at the US Patent Office, here
in DC. We were just married in June and are enjoying time with our friends,
family and church (and swing dancing!) before the kids come along. We look
forward to seeing everyone at the reunion!

Hi all. I grew up in Deep Creek. I have
3 children ages 9 to 15 and I am very recently divorced after being married for
15 years. I have lived in London England, Kittery Maine, and New Bedford Mass.,
but I have always found my way back to VA. I live in VA Beach and work for
Norfolk Police Department as their Identification & Records Supervisor. I
received my AAS f/TCC, my BA f/ST. LEO’S UNIVERSITY, and I am working on my
Masters in Public Admin f/TROY UNIVERSITY, a little hard to believe for some,
especially since I rarely showed up for High School. But life is good. I look
forward to seeing most of you at the reunion, especially to see how we all have
changed. It should be fun.
RUTH CURRIE (RIOS)
Darren Perry, who has coached defensive backs for
the Pittsburgh Steelers since 2003, joins The
Oakland Raiders in the same capacity. The 38-year-old Perry, a
standout defensive back for Pittsburgh during the 1990s, returned to the
Steelers in 2003 as assistant defensive backs coach. He was promoted to
defensive backs coach in 2004, where his secondary ranked fourth in the NFL
against the pass. Perry was also a part of the 2005 championship coaching
staff that won Super Bowl XL. Perry spent the 2002 season as the safeties
coach for the Cincinnati Bengals, prior to returning to Pittsburgh. He played
seven seasons (1992-98) with the Steelers and started the first 110 games of his
career, including the postseason. Perry signed with the San Diego
Chargers in 1999 and rounded out his playing career in 2000 with the New Orleans
Saints. He played in 139 games total. He started 13 postseason games, including
Super Bowl XXX. He had a career total of 35 interceptions. Perry played
college football at Penn State where he established several school records,
including 299 interception return yards and three interceptions for touchdowns.

Greetings from the Great White North!
We're still here in Alaska. No snow yet, but the chill is in the air. I
thought that I'd just let everyone know about the new addition to our family.
Virginia Reagan Gibbs was born on June 19, 2006. She is our surprise blessing!
Sisters Samantha (14), Sabrina (11) and big brother Drew (9) are thrilled. Trey
and I are just overjoyed.
Christie Natanauan (Gibbs)
Hi everyone!!
I have three beautiful children ages 15, 12 and 11. I have been

good!! I hope to see ya’ll at the 20th year
reunion. I can’t wait!
Sherri L Wertman (Hellman)
I was an honor graduate and very active in
school activities which included the Spanish Club and French
Club. Turns out, after graduating from ODU w/ my BA in Spanish,
I would actually teach it :) I have taught Spanish since 1996
with my first teaching job at Booker T. Washington HS in
Norfolk, VA. This was the BEST teacher training I ever received
in all the years I have been involved in education. Kudos to
Norfolk Public Schools and to Mr. Joel R. Wagner, former
Principal.
While at ODU, I pledged Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and have
been an active member holding various offices since 1988.
Currently, I am a member of Nu Xi Zeta Chapter in Alexandria, VA
, home of the winners of the BET 106 & Park Step Competition.
After my mother passed, I moved to NJ w/ my sister Karen (DCHS
c/o '90) & her family and completed my M.Ed. in Adult Education
from George Mason University. After about 2.5 years, we all
moved from NJ & I returned to VA. I returned to George Mason
Univ. to pursue my Doctor of Arts degree in Higher Educ. I have
been honored with a fellowship, a scholarship, and awards for
academic achievement. I hope to complete my degree by May 2008.
I have been working as an Advisor to the National Pan-Hellenic
Council at George Mason University since 2004. For those in the
Metro DC area or those who don't mind traveling, our Council is
hosting their annual step show on Saturday, April 29, 2006 at
the Center for the Arts. Maybe I'll see you there!
While teaching in Washington, DC, I fostered a godmother
relationship with one of my former students. Through our
on-going godmother-daughter relationship, I was blessed to be
introduced to my husband Howard L. Warren, Jr. (Hampton Univ. ,
c/o '90). We were married on January 14, 2006 and we are
awaiting the birth of our daughter Kayla in May. I also have a
stepson, Jonathan, who is 2.5 years old.
Our family home is in Upper Marlboro, MD. I hope to see
everyone at the 20th year reunion.
Alicia M. Jackson-Warren
I have been
married to Mark Pendley for 7 wonderful years. We enjoy teaching
Sunday school and traveling with our friends. I graduated
Charleston Southern University with a degree in Business
Administration. I have worked in corporate America for the past 10
years. I am currently attending classes to complete a Master's
degree of Technology in Education so I may teach high school.
Tracey Ives Pendley
I was one of the starters on the 1985 Champion
Football team. If you can recall, we was the first team in the
school's history to win the Southeastern District Championship. I
attended Virginia Union University on a full 4 year football
scholarship. I graduated from Virginia Union in 1992 with a B.A. in
Social Work. I'm a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. I
furthered my education with completing Real Estate, MCSE and Cisco
systems programs. Since that time, I became married to my wife
Angela who has her Master's degree in Physical Therapy from Old
Dominion University. I have 3 children. Ashlee 14, Rick Jr. 9 and
Sydni 4. My career has consisted of an Institution Rehabilitation
Counselor at Beaumont Juvenile Correctional Center, Parole officer
with the Richmond Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court and
currently a Qualified Mental Health Professional Supervisor. I
currently own a photography and entertainment business in Richmond,
Va. My web site is
www.deberryphoto.net My personal email is
rick363@verizon.net. My children are involved in a lot of
sports. My daughter Ahlee plays basketball and run track. She's in
the 10th grade with a 3.9 accum. My son Ricky, I coach his football
team where we just won the championship in 2005 with a 10-0 record.
He makes straight A's. My daughter Sydni, just tries to run my
home, but will start cheerleading soon. I say this because as a
former parole officer, I feel blessed to have children that are
becoming productive citizens in society. God Bless you all, and I
look to hear from you!
Ricky T. DeBerry
I live in Suffolk, VA with my husband, Allen
(Oscar Smith '83), and precious daughter, Gabrielle. I practice
criminal defense law in the Suffolk Public Defender's Office. I
would very much like to see everyone at the 20th reunion. I also
offer my condolences to all of the families who've lost loved ones
from our school. I would love to hear from my classmates. Take
care. God's richest blessings to you,
